Halloween Cookies

Our family tradition at conference time during the priesthood session has been for the girls to get together and play - before grandkids this was shopping. After grandkids this was usually going to the park and having fun. The weather was cold and rainy on Saturday so we decorated Halloween Cookies.

This one is for Elder Tylka.
Marinda was having a "dark side" ghost.

Korban loves to decorate cookies. We had lots of fun!

Savannah loves to eat the decorations.

Nycole was up and visiting, and it was a great time.

Hurricaine Ike

I went to visit my parents in Houston last week, and ended up caught in Hurricane Ike. Ike roared in on September 13-14, and I was to head home on Sunday the 15th. Needless to say I stayed a few extra days with no power, and no planes leaving. This picture is what a lot of the area looked like after the storm. All the family are well, with no damage to life, limb or homes to speak of and the power came back on right after I left. Well, had I known I would have left earlier. Here are pictures of Grandma and Grandpa- powerless!

Department Christmas Party

I know it sounds strange, but we had our Holiday Party after the holidays. We got together at Stephanie's house and this is how she decorates her 12 foot tree- with a fishing pole of course.

2008

I find it hard to believe that that a New Year has begun already! I am working on getting the house cleaned up and out. Several trips have been made to DI and with Nycole moving out tomorrow, I have another big pile to go. Maybe someday I will get finished- but do you ever get organized or just work at being organized. A very zen question.

Nycole's homecoming talk

Today was Nycole's homecoming talk in Sacrament Meeting. She did a great job, and it was wonderful to hear her testimony of the gospel. This is the group of friends that came over to the house afterwards. They had a great visit.

Nycole is Home

We are so excited to have Nycole home from her mission in Anaheim California.
The family tradition of a cardboard cut out at the airport was continued, and we thought Minnie Missionary would be appropriate. Life is good at the Tylka home.

Nashville

I am visiting Nashville for a work assignment, and got to stop by a civil war battle site in Franklin, Tn. Here is a building that has been certified as the most damaged building still standing from the civil war. The holes in the siding are from the balls from guns. The battle wasn't that famous, but it is kinda cool.

The temple is just over the hill from where I am going to meetings, and we drove by yesterday. No time to visit though.
